Hi,
When setting the server to port 80, it doesn't work because of a listening error. Any ideas????
Thanks |

Find out what is already listening on port 80 and stop it listening. Searching the forum for 'listening' would give you some helpful information... |

ok, thanks for that. I ran the software, and a program called apache is running, and listening on port 80. It's funny, because I remember uninstalling that a while ago. I deleted it off the hard drive, well the rest of it. Instead, NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM is now listening. Any more ideas???
Thanks |

Bring up task manager (I assume you are using windows) with CTRL + ALT + DEL and look for apache.exe. End the task then start Abyss again.
You can also go into the startup configuration and stop Apache from loading to start with.
Go to:
Start, run. Type in 'msconfig' (no quotes) and a box will appear. Click the 'startup' tab and look for apache.exe or Apache Webserver. Uncheck the box, click apply and restart your computer. When you have restarted see if it is running again by using task manager or by starting Abyss. If you don't get the listening error then Apache is no longer running.
Hope this helps. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Hey i used the program to find out what was using port 80.
in this case
inetinfo.exe was using this port, and i am told that this is also related to IIS..(im kinda babbling about stuff i dunt know what i am talking about).
Anyway - Abyss used to work for me i also look in cmd using netstat -a to find open ports and everytime i choose one of these for Abyss i always get a listening error no matter which port i choose there is always a listenig error and i cant seem to fix it!!!
i have checked my router and find it difficult to muck around with the settings in that!
Someone Please Help Me!!!
Thx |

im probably gna get told off for leaving 2 messages after eachother
but ive noticed when i run the port program it shows this:
abyssws.exe - TCP - Local Port 1024 - Local Address 0.0.0.0 - Remote Address 0.0.0.0
I swear these should be my IP address or something - i have no idea how to change them tho!
PLEASE I NEED HELP I WISH I UNDERSTOOD This stuff :'(
but yeh i have these problems n cnt find open ports always listening errors :'(
Thx |

All depends on your configuration of Abyss Web Server. It could be using port 1024 for the console (http://127.0.0.1:1024 will be your console URL in such case).
If port 80 is used by IIS, you should disable IIS or uninstall it to free the port.
By the way, the problem you describe has nothing to do with the router. _________________ Support Team
