the server works when the computer is directly connected to the dsl modem. HOwever once i hook computers up to the router then i cannot connect to the server no matter how i configure the router. I am trying to get help from netgear but they are slow and instructions they give dont seem to help either.
Has anyone else had a problem with netgear routers? Anyone know why i might be having this problem with the rp614 router?
Thanks |

Im not sure on your exact level of expersiese on this,
But Have you set up port forwarding on the router?
Youll need to "login" to the router and click something like "virtual servers" and set up port forwarding from (assuming you use port 80) port 80 to port 80 on your INTERNAL IP. _________________

Yes I have logged into the router admin and went to port forwarding and entered in my internal ip to allow port 80 http.
There is one section called security. Default DMZ server, and i entered my internal ip, I checked the "respond to ping on internet WAN port" box. But still i am blocked from entering. I have put in every internal ip i can think of (192.168.0.1 to 5) if i try to put in my dynamic ip address it changes when i hit to apply change.
does anyone else use rp614 router? |

Have you asked anyone else to connect to the server while it is running and your router is configured to forward port 80 to your PC? If you can access the server via your LAN IP and localhost, and others can access the server via WAN IP and you cannot, your router does not support loopback.
You can search the forum for 'loopback' to find more details on this, it has been covered many times before... |

68.248.142.45 that is my wan ip, can anyone pull up the webpage? I just tried to access the webpage using the servers internal IP and it worked. I am guessing you are right, that all this time i was entering the external ip and was refused because my router doesnt allow loopback ACK! |

I just tried the ip, and it wasn't working. I usually use Netmonitor.com to check whether my server is working.
However, join the club...I'm having the same problem with a different router!

I figured out why it wasnt working a few days ago. It all came down to me not knowing enough about computers, and routers at the time.
I was entering the administrator Internal IP of my router for port forwarding when I should have been using my computers internal IP. Also, in security there is a part where i have to enter the internal ip of my computer the server is on. Again i was using the wrong IP. So once i changed that everything works.
HUGE thank you to those who tried to help me. In the end I finally just experimented and figured it out through trial and error.
You should be able to pull up my website using that WWW button now. It is running on my computer server too, i am so proud. I cant say enough about how great Abyss is.
