As a gaming community, my staff agrees I need some Virtual Hosting. They don't, however, support paying for anything, and I need a couple 'o things. So, do you guys think it's safe to run two web servers?

Like, Abyss + Some other server for the site's we want to host, though I plan on going pro once I get all the things I need paid paid out.

It's possible, but you'd have to make sure the ports don't conflict with each other.
(ie, Abyss on port 80 and the non-Abyss server on port 81)

I did this last year with Abyss and KF Web Server. ;)

Sweet, I think I'll provide hosting for mods and stuff, it's a great way to increase my user base.

Arctic,

You can also install two copies of Abyss Web Server and configure each one to run on a different port. This won't be as flexible as having genuine virtual hosting but it can do the job.

I wouldn't like running two because I would have to, more likely, run time two of the things I currently run for it! (I think!) :-P

P.S. You would prob. have to install MySQL nad PHP on both to work...

If he allready has PHP installed, the only thing he need it to fix is the /PHP/php-cgi.exe in the Abyss console. You don't really have to config MySQL again.

Yes it works if you can live with workarounds. Genuine virtual hosting has many advantages such as ease of configuration, a single console (not 2 or more) to deal with, antihacking protects both sites and shares information of attacks between them. You can also limit bandwidth efficiently and duplicate hosts configuration in no time instead of doing things manually.

And best of all, all your sites are on port 80 and do not need :xxxx at the end of their names. :-)
