I've recently come across with the issue of the server (http://timpsi.hopto.org or http://130.234.197.214:8080) not being accessible when the Internet Connection Sharing is enabled. No one outside my LAN is able to access it. I wonder, what exactly is causing this? Is there a solution for it?

I'm using Abyss X1 on Windows 98SE, and the connection is shared with a laptop running WinXP Pro. The connection sharing is done using Microsoft ICS.

Timpsi,

ICS should be configured to allow incoming connections to the web server. Please read the answers to a similar topic in http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6363 .

Thank you for the answer. However, the difference between my problem and the one in the other thread is that in the other one the server is located on the ICS client (computer b), while my server computer (A) is also the one hosting the ICS. I did try the recommended software to direct the connections to the port 8080 to the ICS host, but the issue remained.

EDIT: My problem appears to be the exact same one as the one this guy is having. He got no answer, though.

I still haven't managed to figure this one out. Any ideas?

Also, I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem. It looks like something that should be quite common.

Still the same problem. I've battled with this for three months(!) now, and the only way to get the server work seems to be switching the ICS off. However, that's not good enough, as I want both computers to be able to access the internet.

Is it really so that it's not possible to host ICS and a web server on the same computer?

Timpsi,

The question you ask is general and isn't related to Abyss Web Server but rather to ICS. You may have a better answeer if you post your question on a specialized forum or usenet group dedicated to Microsoft networking stuff (since ICS is their product).
