I think theres instructions on setting your server up with a router... try searching the forums, might find something :D _________________ int main() {

Hello youngl--
I am unable to connect to your site. Do you know your ip address? Can you connect directly with that?

It won't make a difference if you tried through direct IP, the no-ip, redirects you to that ip anyway (IP shouldn't change hence the dsl unless connected reconnect, in which case youngl would have to manually change the redirection of the no-ip address). _________________ int main() {

Hello Glitch2082--
Since this person says they are *not* behind a router, it would seem to me the first logical step in debugging the situation would be to see if connection directly through the ip address was established before worrying about no-ip or anything else.
There might be a port 80 block or something else.
Regards,

My appoligies, I read it wrong, I thought they were behind a router. What I would suggest is if you have a firewall, enable it to allow 80. Or just disable the firewall alltogether. _________________ int main() {

Hello agen, no i DO NOT have a router, my ip address is 62.253.64.15 but on another site it is 62.253.198.142 port 80 is open and does connect. once i tried to access both of the site via these ip address i got the error that page could not be found so then i got a 3rd ip finder site which gave me the following IP: 82.2.30.166 which i was then able to access the site through. the IP address at the top is the one which aprelium ip gave me but that one does not work. why can i not access my site from any other computer than that on my lan?
Okay i changed the port number incase my isp was blocking port 80 now try the link below to see if it is working.....please post back quickly!

Hi again youngl--
Your site *is* connecting at:
http://82.2.30.166:21208/
If I was you, I would try setting the port back to 80 and then seeing for sure whether your port 80 is blocked or not using your http://82.2.30.166/ address. You can check via a proxy like:
http://proxify.com/ or http://proxy.187murder.org/proxy.php and see from outside your lan.
Question though...you say you are in a lan but you don't have a router? How do you have a network without a router? Most of what you are describing sounds like a router issue.
If port 80 is *not* blocked, you just need to set your no-ip configuration correctly. They should have a ip updater client. Are you using that?
If it is a port 80 blocked issue, no-ip can be configured to add your alternate port to your subdomain address, making life easier for you when coding your pages.
Let us know how things progress.
Regards,

i have changed my port number back to 80 now, so now could somebody try http://82.2.30.166/ and see whether port 80 is blocked or not for me, thanks.
also to answer Axis question about how i have a lan with out a router. The PC which is hosting the site connects directly to the internet via the dsl fone line the other computers in my lan are connect to the internet via my copmuter using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) so therefore no router is needed just an Ethernet switch.
Thankyou for all of your help and if i need more i will post the question here. |
