I have the server installed, I attempted to set up a static Ip and enable port forwarding (I have linksys for the router), and I am running off of windows xp. I allready have the integrated firewall configured to alow access through port 80. When I try to connect to my website through the external IP, (using mozilla firefox), I recieve the Operation timed out error. It works for me alone through the internal ip (aquired using the ipconfig command). I have tried to access my website through the internal and external ip addresses from an alternite computer, and it times out as well. I would apreciate any help. Below is the listed configuration settings for the port forwarding:
APPLICATION: abyssws.exe
port range start: 80
port range end: 80
protocol: both
ip address: 192.168.1.102
(note aprelium technologies states my ip address as) 63.207.239.191.
I await your reply. |

I'm not an expert in this area, but I've been using Abyss for a year or so and will relate the following, as it MAY be relevant to your question (if I understand the question correctly)...
When I upgraded XP (Home) to SP2, I attempted to use XP's firewall, just for the heck of it. I never could get it to work -- allow access -- so I turned it off. I was and am, however, using the firmware firewall of my Linksys router, along with ZoneAlarm Pro. So it is no big deal for me. Question: have you tried your testing with XP's firewall turned off?
Regards,

Are you tryinng to connect to http://63.207.239.191 from a computer inside your network? If this is the case, the behavior you experience is normal since most routers doesn't know how to do loop back and to resolve their external IP address from inside the internal network.
So inside your netowrk, you should only use http://192.168.1.102 to access the site. From outside your network, you'll be able to use http://63.207.239.191 . |
