hi im new to this
i have windows xp pro
mc afee virus pro
dial up internet
i want to use your program to make a web server mainly to transfer files from my comp to friends
i have a web page design program aswell
the proub i have is that i can see the web page throught my computer ip
i can see it through the isp ip but others cant see me
i have my fire wall configured to to allow the ports that abys server uses
any suggestion as all the posts so far deal with cable etc
i know its silly to have a server on dial up but this way i can learn till i get cable
i have a domain name that i can use but i cant configure it to accept my ip addy
i know i have to change my ip addy everytime i dial in but that is not a prob at this stage just getting it so someone on the other side of the country can connect to me would be good

this is a very easy program to use, best of all its free! you install it on your computer, sign up on their site and register a free domain name, enter your details into the program and bam, you have a free domain name! it is very useful if you have adsl, ipupdater connects to the internet and updates your ip address on their dns server every so often, so that your domain name always points to your computer. this means your friends will just type in your domain name to access your website. check it out, even if you don't want to use it. very valuable piece of software for me. documentation is available or just post question here. i hope the information has been useful. here's the link: www.ipupdater.com

i figured out why other ppl couldnt see me sight
i had my firewall configured wrong
but thanx for a fast answer
the info you gave me will help with my next prob so thats cool
now i just have to learn how to do good web sites lol
