For years I've used Linux, and Apache. But I bought a new computer, and I've decided to keep the XP operating system and see what I can do with XP.
I've installed Abyss, and so far am very impressed with what I see.
My question of the day: Does Abyss support MySQL? |

Does a bear s**t in the woods?
No, really, the support for mySql is all handled with PHP, so indirectly it does support mySql through PHP.
So you can use it to run a forum board or make your own database driven website. |

To answer his question, yes and no. MySQL acts outside Abyss like an FTP server the two dont even see each other (unless there going to use the same port, but thats a different story). In order to use MySQL I would highly reccommend phpMyadmin, but if you highly familiar with the MySQL server, then dont (Note: you can still use MySQL w/o phpmyadmin if you didnt know). Its your choice. =) _________________

There are a few good FREE windows GUI front ends for managing MySQL...YOU DO NOT NEED PHP (unless that's your language of choice)! I don't know where that myth came from...
Some of the options are (there are others just do a google search):
MySQL Front : http://www.mysqlfront.de/ (there is a free version floating around)
MySQL Control Center (probably your best bet) : http://www.mysql.com/products/mysqlcc/ _________________ ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
