|
|
I have a server and a static IP address. My goal is to use Abyss (and my server at home) to host my 12 websites. I want to install a free control panel (probably zpanel) along with a free WHM (web host manager - so I can easily create my accounts). To host more than one site on my server, would I need to have a DNS? Also, how do I use mail or mail server on my server? How do I know how much bandwidth to allow myself? Thanks to anyone willing to help.

The amount of bandwidth needed depends on how busy the sites are that you are hosting. If each site gets say 100 hits/day, it's going to need a fair amount of bandwidth, but if they don't get any hits, you obviously would need very little bandwidth. For Email, you need to install an email server, which is a separate program from Abyss. How to use it will depend on the software.
It might be beneficial to have your own DNS, but it wouldn't be required. _________________ My site and forums |

I realize what bandwidth is, I was just curious as to how much a server can handle (ball park) Like 2000 gigs monthly or so? And what mail servers are out there? Any free WHM out there either? I definitely would want a DNS - how to install it, I have no idea.
Thanks! |

depends on what your UPSTREAM connection is.. It all depends on your upload speed to people which determines the MAX you can do.. _________________

Every thing you want has been discussed before. Mail servers, WHM, DNS, just do a search. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
