Cannot access the console. I've changed the user name and password in abyss.conf, tried to access the console using them and after three tries, I get a 404 Not Found. What am I doing wrong? |

remove the username and password entry from your config file them when you go to the config area, it should ask you to input a new username and password _________________ Olly |

circe,
Never change the password manually in the configuration (unless you know how to encrypt it :-) .)
Please read the first question in our FAQ http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html for more information about resetting your console password. _________________ Support Team

I read the FAQ first and deleted the user name and password. Didn't make any difference.
Today I deleted the last four lines of the abyss.conf file, rather than just the two mentioned in the FAQ and the program finally behaved as the FAQ said it would. |

The last four lines I deleted were:

User member "encryption"
AccessControl "/stuff................." |

You are removing entries to get rid of manual protection set up for parts of your website. Are you sure you are trying to access the console? http://127.0.0.1:9999 ... is that what you want? _________________ Bienvenidos! |

What I wanted to do was to create another password that would actually work and allow me to access the console. Deleting only user name and password, according to the FAQ, did not work. Once I deleted these two lines and the two lines below them, I could then access the console and create another password. |
