Does your ISP block ports? I've compiled a list of known ISPs that are known to block ports. ISPs with an asterisk (*) next to their name could possibly be blocking ports temporarily.

Cox Communications
Verizon
Cableone
Charter Pipeline*
SBC DSL (In some locations; as they don't for me)
Roadrunner (Blocked in Midwest, NOT blocked in Tampa)
AOL DSL (In some locations)
Earthlink
Comcast (In some locations)

If your ISP blocks ports, but isn't listed here, please tell me. Hopefully, this can clear up some issues with people who can't get their website working.

Earthlink Cable does not block ports.

EDIT:

Earthlink cable is powered by time warner cable. Time warner cable doesn't block ports. I am not sure about earthlink cable powered by Bright House?

Where do you live (state), and doesn't Earthlink also offer DSL?

You've "compiled a list" by copying and pasting most of it from the first google hit ? Strange how it's exactly the same order for most of the list... The Earthlink info on there says it may have been temporary. It also appears to be a Blaster block list. Try searching for one that lists ISPs that block http servers.

Cox, Verizon, and Cableone don't seem to be on that list... but maybe that's just me. The list is intended to grow by people posting and adding their ISPs to the list, hence the "If your ISP blocks ports, but isn't listed here, please tell me."

I've actually seen some people with blocked ports using SBC Yahoo.

Simple answer, no, if port 80 is blocked you cannot use it. You will need to use another port for example 81.

you can get www.no-ip.com to do a port 80 reditect, so

http://yourname.no-ip.com (aka port 80, possibly blocked on your machine)
will go to
http://yourname.no-ip.com:81 (probably not blocked) you can host your webserver from there
