please help

I set up abyss webs server, php, mySQL and phpMyAdmin and it all works from http://127.0.0.1:90/

When I used whatismyip and it says my ip is http://81.154.36.108:90 It works on my computer but when I try to acsess from another computer it gives an error message.

I dont have a router I just have my ADSL modem going right into my computer. I changed the server port to 90 and it still does't work.

I just wondered if there is something I have done wrong.

No luck for me, 19:55 GMT. If you want to check if it works yourself, use a web proxy - it's the equivalent of someone else looking at your site, the traffic will be coming in from the internet.

One site is ProxyWeb, although I seem to remember it doesnt cope very well showing images on servers running on non standard ports. At least you'll be able to check for yourself whether your site is accessible.

Try a port over 1024, check your ISPs (BT?) help pages to check they don't block all server traffic.

No it doesn't work.

I would check your own proxy settings. In IE, go to "Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings>Proxy Server" and see if the checkbox is checked, or if anything is filled in the blanks. If it is, disable it. Then go to WhatIsMyIP.com to check your IP again.

I was just reading some other topics and when I used the iwndows XP comand prompt and enter ipconfig this is what comes up.

PPP adapter BT Broadband:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address . . . . . . . . . : 217.42.155.157
Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Mask. . . . . . . . . : 217.42.155.157

Just wondered is this made a difference or not

Nope. I think you'll find you have a dynamic IP, so what you post here is probably wrong by the time anyone looks at it...

not really. I was just wondering if I was to change ISP who do you reccomend going with. I have not been happy with BT since day 1

When I disabled my firewall the ip changed but it hasnt changed since

Zen, Nildram and Plusnet both have very good reputations for ADSL in the UK, cheaper than BT too.

You might want to check the TOS before signing up - my ISP (Fast24) does explicitly permit servers as long as the bandwidth use is not excessive and nothing illegal is being traded.

You shouldn't need to switch ISPs to get this working though - I know plenty of people running their own servers on BT Openwoe...

Whats funny is that your using the default port
for Abyss Web Server's console but congradulations
for getting your server working !

Edit: You should link to aprelium's website , it may not be required but
it helps more and more people to use this excelent web server software

give me your site map and i will test pages, maby you must have index.htm at start otherwis the server can't tell which page to load and normally it is index.html the server look first
