Hi,

Has anyone installed Movable Type on their Abyss server?

I could need some help doing that.. i've never installed something like that and the readme is quite messy for a newbie.
I'm more used to php scripts which are so much easier than to get all this to work with perl and such.
A tutorial for a Movabletype installation on Abbys would ofcourse be lovely :P

Although I do not know about Moveable Type, I can take an educated guess that it won't be compatible with Abyss. I think the only one who can truly answer this question is Aprelium themselves.

jmx,

Movable Type is a regular Perl script. It works fine on Abyss. Please read http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3556 for more information.

How does an 'educated guess' that it won't work and aprelium saying it will make a half right answer ? If you don't know, don't answer :)

Hm.. i've tried and tried.. and i begining to believe i'm doing a lot of things wrong :(
If anyone who knows how to get perl going could do a quick setup of movabletype (preferable with a mysql database) to verify that it is installable.. that would be so helpful.
And if you could write down the important steps (which paths and such you used) that would be eve better.. i don't find the movabletype instruction all that easy to follow.

Regards / J

The half I got right was "I think the only one who can truly answer this question is Aprelium themselves."

Anyway, I said that because many people on these forums have asked about these third party applications and asking about their compatibility with Abyss, and 90% of the time they turn out not to be compatible; hence the "educated guess."
