How do i set up my computer as a game server?

I need to set up my computer as a game server via. tcp/ip. I already know that the game server program has to be running 24/7 for it to always work, but how do i get the server to work. When others try to access my server using the game it doesnt work. Also how do i get my ip on the world wide web? please help Thanks!

i thnik youd be better off getting help from the games maker or a fan site of the particular game. we can' t help you more without knowing which game it is

Well anyway heres the problem they cannot connect to my computer.....

the problem is they cant access my ip

If people cannot access your computer from the outside world, this means that you have a router or a firewall that is blocking incoming connections. So configure this router or this firewall to allow incoming connections to your servers. You can read our FAQ for more help (second question).
