This will be the most newbish question you've ever heard... Sorry if it is explained clearly somewhere, I've missed it completely, if that's the case.

So, I've had a few websites, and I generally know what do with managing them, and stuff, but I'm clueless when it comes to web servers. So, my first question is, how do I point my domain to the server? I have absolutely no idea...

Thanks.

Find out your IP Address by going to http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip and point it to your Domain.

Ah, yeah, I thought of that, but I think I have a dynamic IP...

How can I find out whether I do (apart from wait-and-see), and what can I do about it?

Thanks.

Throw money at the problem! :)

I registered my domain through http://www.no-ip.com. They have a service called No-Ip Plus, which I got as well. It's $24.95/year.
They have a client that works a lot like http://dyndns.org's client. When your IP changes, the client can make the change to their DNS servers almost instantaneously.

Otherwise, just manually change your A Record whenever your IP changes.

PS I'm not a salesman of any kind for no-ip -- just a happy customer. :-;

Alright, so I downloaded the no-ip client for Linux, and I ran it, it said I need to put in a host. So I went to my account there, but I can't use my own domain without paying. Is there a way that I can use my domain with no-ip? Or anything else?

Thanks.

If your Domain supports CNAME records, point your Domain to your No-IP Address.

To use No-IP Plus' feature for your purchased domain name, you have to buy No-IP Plus.

To use the client for free, you have to use the domains they allow (bouncene.net, hopto.org, no-ip.org...). Thus you'd have a subdomain, and they put ads on their free services.

Alright, I'm using Zone Edit, and I got a java program to update the IP. My domain, Hybridhoster.com, is pointing to my IP 59.167.52.214, and when I try to use my domain, it says I need a password? How can I avoid this?
