How does one setup (configure for) remote access to the server in X1?

Thanks.

You must go to the access control and allow "*" as the ip's allowed to access the console.

The * worked but now when I type my url, I have to type my username and password. Thats fine, but I want the capability to both access my console while allowing others to access my website. Is this possible; if so, how.

Thanks.

njaneer,

By default, the console is on port 9999 and the web site is on port 80, so they are independant. All you have to do is to do port forwarding for both ports and you'll be able to use remote access for both.

Aprelium.

Once I set port forwarding for both 80 and 9999, then for example, if I enter my url www.mysite.com, would I automatically be forwarded to the homepage; moreover, to access my console, would I type the following url to access my console: www.mysite.com:9999. Would this then forward me to a log-on screen to access the console?

Thanks.

That is correct.

I will give it a try! Thanks for the expedient feedback; it was a big help. I'll let you know if all worked well.

Thanks again.

"It didn't work" is a very vague description of your problem. What error messages do you get? WHat changes have you made to your configuration? The more details you give us, the better we can help.

Yes, more info would help. Well, I set the port to forward 9999. The "*" setting is suspect however. I need additional clarification on setting IP access specific to the access controls functionality (as noted in the first suggestion). My uncertainty in this configuration could be the issue.

Thanks.

For the latest version of Abyss, go here --> http://192.168.1.130:9999/console/ipcontrol

Select order to Allow/Deny.
Enter * in for Allowed IP addresses.

Now you should be able to goto http://mysite.com:9999 and access the console. If not, try http://your-ip-address:9999.
Otherwise, it's probably your router. You'll need to forward port 9999 as well to the server computer.

My apologizes for not responding back sooner. I was successful in establishing a remote connection to my server. Adding a * in the IP Address Control (Allowed IP Addresses section) within the Console Configuration was the trick. Thanks for everyones input.
