in a similar thread a guy said he cannot open his console (my problem)
all he had to do was enable the autodetect for his lan setting in his browser. which ofcourse did not work for me.

i've tried the autodetect for an open port but i still cannot connect/ open the console.

the server says it's running but i cannot connect from the outside either.
the old version worked great (anyone have a copy)
i have the windows firewall turned off.

this is frustrating as hell.

and yes i have searched the site and the net.

can anyone help.?

have you tried accessing your site from 127.0.0.1 and localhost

have you tried accessing the console from 127.0.0.1:9999 and localhost:9999

do you get any error messages?
are you running abyss as a windows service?
is abyss listed in the running process list (ctrl+alt+del)?

Whats your obsession with displaying that people use Apache?

If you bothered to look, its a cloaked address.

ssin,

It's not using port 80 because another application is already using port 80. Use a tool such as Active Ports (from http://www.protect-me.com/freeware.html ) to know which software on your computer is already using this port.

Probably to bypass firewalls. I've noticed the same problem with Skype.

Just start Abyss before you start Skype or Yahoo and you should be fine. Skype also has an option (unsure about Yahoo) to not use port 80.

Alternatively, you can use a built-in Windows command "NETSTAT" to display your active ports. You can use "netstat -a -n" or "netstat -a -n -b" in a command prompt.
