|

Aloha (Hi) from Hawaii, Hey guys I'm a newbie in need of a help.
I have 4 sites I would like to host on my abyss X2. But, like all noob's I'm in the learning phase. Thank God I have a sister who can do my HTML's for me.
But, she doesn't have a clue on setting up the server like me.
The server side is my responablilty 8O
Question:
I assume that I need to have each site on a different port:80,81,82,83
Correct?
Example: From the Abyss Console I add Host> Then port 81, host:www.fortune998.com, select path: xxxxx?
Correct?
Rediret my domain service to my static IP with port :81
(This I have done already)
Problem is I don't get my page.
But, if I deleted the host name from (General for that host) The host will default to (Default Host on port 81)
Then the page works.
Something tells me that I donot have it setup correctly :)
Can someone tell me step by step how to set this up...please
Thank you |

Have you searched around the Docs or forum yet?
All you need to do is add new Hosts from the console to the correct paths to
where each website is located, and point your domains to your IP Address. I
recommend going with GoDaddy.com for a domain. :-)
Note: If you're behind a router/firewall, make sure you allow access to Abyss
on port 80 (All Hosts can listen on port 80).
Be sure to try http://www.portforward.com for Router help.
I can also provide you with technical support if you need help doing this. You
can contact me on my MSN Messenger at: msn@trustabyss.com
P.S. You can sign up for Free subdomains at the following providers.
http://www.dyndns.org , http://www.no-ip.com

Hi there ringsixty and welcome to the forum.
I'm currently using Abyss X2 to host 7 sites (including the default).
They are all on port 80. For your site, you can set up all your domains to forward to your IP address at port 80.
If you want a good HTML editor that works in WYSIWYG mode (What You See Is What You Get), download Cutepage. It is freeware, but ad-supported. I use it all the time for my sites. You can type into it somewhat like Wordpad and it makes the HTML for you.
Edit: URL changed for CutePage. _________________ Stephen
