Hi,

I run win2K at a P3. Port 80,21,25,110,etc are open.
When I try to transfer a large file (like a back-up file) or a continuing stream of data (like (yes, I use it) VNC server), my server gets down very often.

When I plug a monitor/screen in the machine, I see a little pop-up-cloud-thing in the right corner saying "Networkcable not connected". NO, it's a LIE!
The cable is connected and it worked fine for weeks.

So, It all works fine for months, maybe years. But when I use the networkcart intensivly, this problem pops-up.

When the problem occures and:
If I ping 127.0.0.1, all ok.
If I ping 10.0.0.2 (router) the result is a time-out.

The only solution to get rid of this problem is to reboot the machine.

I tried serveral cables,
I tried serveral carts,
I tried serveral ports of my router.
It is the only computer in my network with this problem.

Verry, verry .. &$#@

Maybe you can help me?
tnx

Try using a live distro like Ubuntu, Knoppix or Simply Mepis. If it works, the problem is probably in your computers O/S. If you still get disconnected, the problem is your router(or modem, if you have the router built-in).
