OK, I am behind a router.
But I don't have a firewall.
What could be they problem?
I couldn't connect to my website.
so after reading some threads I went and I pressed auto detect on the port thing.
it redid the port to 1024,
but I still can only access by using the loop back IP.
any ideas?
thx
:D
oh and I am wireless.

You might have to open the port for your website in your router...check your router settings for NAT or something like that.... |

You must open ports as said by One_ar but also make sure the IP you direct the forward to is correct otherwise it will not work.
Some ISP's block port 80 so using another would be an idea. To check if the outside world can access your site use an anonymouse proxy.
www.abyssunderground.co.uk/proxy or
www.proxify.com
are two anonymouse proxies you can use to check. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

There will be a reset button on the router, hold it down and at the same time turn the router off. Keep the button held down for 30 seconds. Turn back on while still held down and release after a few seconds.
This will do a HARD RESET so any settings on the router will be lost. The password will be set back to the default password. If you know the old orginal password this should be it once the router is reset.
Dont do this unless you are absolutely sure you know the default password. I don't want you to lose anything just incase. The default password should be in the manual. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Maybe if I just restart.
I was trying to set up an IRCD awhile back and it wouldn't start until I restarted
I dunno, maybe there was somthing I forgot to configure?
I put * in the allow ip address thing, would there be anything else I could have forgoten? |

Where are you putting a *? In abyss or in the router? _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

If you're going to solve problems outside of the forum, perhaps you could include a short summary here of the solution you arrived at so that anyone searching in future (in between hell freezing over and pigs flying) might be able to find an answer without starting a new topic for an identical problem... _________________

OK, basically, he couldnt get into his router because the password has been changed to an unknown one. He contacted the supplier of his router who told him how to reset it without losing all of his settings.
I helped him forward port 80 to his server and everything worked well from then on. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
