I have abyss on my localhost (winXP) and haven't used it in awhile... like an IDIOT I can't recall the password I thought I used... anything I can do besides reinstalling the server?

I'm not sure about recovering your password but i BELIEVE that if you uninstall the server the settings stay there so when u re-install it the settings should all go back to normal .. not sure about tht tho. |

Looking in the abyss.conf file the "password" is a 32 digit alphanumeric, and of course cut and pasting that thing didn't work... strange though I had used the same p/w for this fourm (or so I thought) as with the server...

Open your abyss.conf file, find the line where the console-password is stored, remove it and enter the console. You'll be asked for a new password. |

I tend to do things on my own the hard way .. which usually ends up with me breaking something .. then when all else fails i read instructions. |

Thanks for the assistance... clearing the pw from the conf worked perfectly... my "troubleshooting" docs and searchs didn't find that quiet simple fix....
