How do I use my current www.abyssunderground.co.uk domain on my home server, BUT be able to have subdomains as well WITHOUT using scripts? I have tried loads of ways to edit my dns settings on my domain console (from Lycos UK) and cannot get it to work at all, I dont even get a homepage.
Here are 2 screen shots of the console so you can try and help me:
If anyone could help I would be really happy!! _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Hello Andy--
Are you using the pro version? If so, the configuration of subdomains is done in the Abyss control panel.

That's correct if you want www.domain.com/department.
But, if you want department.domain.com, you must also specify the subdomain with the domain registrar
using an A Record. |

Hello Moxxnixx--
Perhaps I mis-spoke. I am using no-ip.com to manage my domain name and have wildcards enabled there, which allows me to just configure as many subdomains on Abyss as I want without further ado.
I should have realized not every system is set up the same.

I havent got the pro version yet but i will within a few months. I need to know what to add to CNAMES or A records to get this to work, its not as simple as wild cards, I have to add them myself, I just dont know how. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

No problems, my friend.
I'm not aware of no-ip.com's procedures for subdomains.
The Inquisitor, most normal registrars require the use of an A Record for subdomains.
Usually, you create a subdomain name in your registrar's host records pointing to your IP address.
Then, you create the host in Abyss console, as Axis' screenshot suggests. |

Thanks guys, I now have subdomains for my home server :-)
if you go to http://homeserver.abyssunderground.co.uk you will be directed to my home server if it is online, if not it will simply give a page cannot be displyed (error 404).
Thanks for all your help, I will soon be hosting all my sites on my home server :P _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
