Hello,
I was wondering if anyone would have any idea why that sometimes I loses all my setting for Abyss (goes back to default) on a system reboot. It does not do this all the time and seems to be for no certain reason. I am running the latest final version (1.2.3.0). Any ideas? It's a real pain in the butt to have to put all my PHP settings back in and default directories :(. Thanks in advance! _________________ Zaphod

mosszaphod,
This issue seems to be similar to http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5149 .Are you using Abyss Web Server with a FireDaemon?
The new version 2.0 solves the problem (according to the users that reported similar behaviors.) _________________ Support Team

You can start using the latest Beta which is stable and 99.9% similar to the final release. It support Windows Services and doesn't have the behavior you've described above. _________________ Support Team

Sounds great...so it's ok to still use Fire Daemon then? _________________ Zaphod

That's fine you recommend the Beta....but that wasn't the question hehe...I wondered if it works now with FireDaemon and doesn't loose the settings :)...I still need to know if it works ok with it now... _________________ Zaphod

The point was that you no longer use FireDaemon to run Abyss - Abyss can now be run (in the beta) as a native Windows service. If you need FireDaemon to run other programs on your PC you can continue to use it for them, but if you were just using it to run Abyss as a service you can uninstall it. |

That makes sense...I was just curious if I go EITHER way if there was an advantage/disadvantage on way or another...I already have it setup on my FireDaemon so I was curious if the 'lose settings bug' was fixed and if it would be ok to keep it like that..... _________________ Zaphod

mosszaphod,
We recommend using the new Abyss ability to run as a service and forget about FireDaemon. This feature is very easy to use (1 dialog box control it) and doesn't require anything but Abyss Web Server version 2. So why not simplifying your life? :-) _________________ Support Team

Ok, np...Like i said i already have it up and running with the correct parameters so actually thought would be easier to leave it...that why I asked if there was a plus or minus either way...thanks Aprelium...and thanks for a GREAT product..I constantly recommend your webserver and brag it up :).... _________________ Zaphod

I was recommending the Beta so you don't have to use such a program that
allows you to run a server as a NT service since Abyss v2 Beta supports it. |
