|
|
Hello,
Is there a way to run the server on 2 ports at one time? Like port 80 so I can view it locally and port 85 for the rest of the world because my ISP blocks port 80. I use my host file to view my domain name on port 80 locally so everyone on the network can use our domain name insted of the local path.
I have been doing this with another server but it seems to be causing a conflict . They would share the same htdocs folder BTW _________________ Thank You

If you're using port 80 on your LAN OK and you know your ISP blocks port 80, have you tried forwarding an alternative port on your router to port 80 on Abyss?
Works fine for me - random high numbered port -> 80 on Abyss on the server PC, machines in the LAN use local ip + no port, machines not on the LAN use no-ip domain name + port number... |

Yea been through all that crap,
I have the domain set up to go to the other port (Other then 80 because its blocked) But to view our websites directly on our network we have to modify the host files. These host files will only view port 80 (locally) As everyone knows you cannot view your ip with the port locally because of loopback. We don't want to have to type in out local addy to view our websites. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Right now I run 2 servers, one on port 85 (for the the world to see) and the other on port 80 (That we can see locally with modified host files.
Soooooooooooooooooooo
Can I run abyss on 2 ports at the same time? Will the beta do this??? _________________ Thank You

That was my point - with Abyss running on port 80 on the server, on your LAN you can use local IP, computername, or the domain name you have added to the hosts file to access the server directly.
After setting the router to forward port 85 -> port 80 on the server PC, external users should still be able to see your site... You don't need to run Abyss on 2 ports, just have your external traffic forwarded to the port Abyss is running on. The two ports do not have to be the same. |

Description : Whatever
Inbound Ports : 85-85
Type : TCP
Private IP : Fill in the blank for your server IP
Private Ports : 80-80
As it lets you specify port ranges that would be my first attempt at filling it in - I assume you have already an identical rule that just does 85->85 ? Your exact router model would be handy if you want me to check the manual... |

The explanation at the very bottom of this page deals with exactly I'm suggesting but describes FTP to two separate PCs. Seems like what I suggested should be the right settings to enter...

Let us know how you get on :) |
