Hi i have been using abyss for a while and i have just tryed to set the chmd of a folder to 777 in the webserver directry htdocs and the htdocs folder is read only and it wont let me change it

CHMOD is a unix only option. It can't be done in Windows. _________________ Olly |

I think that all windows FTP server should have something where it says "Screw you" or something the moment someone tried to "chmod" something. _________________

so evan if i cange the folder from read only it will not work
arr windows rath strikes again time to boot up the linx box soon when i find my copy lol |

It will work fine. There is no CHMOD command because Windows does not handle file permissions in the same way. Why do you need to use chmod ? You can skip this install step while installing most scripts that are actually compatible with Windows - what are you trying to install ? |

when uploading to a windows server its allows files to be uploaded with files permissions, unlike and unix* server. Thats why you have to chmod on the unix* because you cant upload with the file permissions intact. EG if your trying to install IPB on windows, just upload the files and go to sm_install.php skip the chmod section and install will be fine
