Umm , like running in the background ? Not on the windows version but if
you upgrade to the newest beta , you can have it running as a service.

Our suggestion is to go down to your local used computer store and buy an
old one and use it as a dedicated server , I got one from my bro in law and
its working great , no monitor , just the power and internet hooked up.

Not all computers can do that, some of them require a keyboard to be hooked up or else it wont boot up. You may be able to disable it in the BIOS (if your lucky).....

First boot up the PC than unplug the monitor , mouse & keyboard and

access it thru a router, local network, or thru the net,

using

http://www.realvnc.com

its free, run the server, and make sure to setup a password , if your on a router network, it will be ip of comp, like 192.168.1.999 and then you could access it with a comp with internet access to access it, and control it that way

In one word, KVM or 3 letters. Allows you to hook up more than one computer to a keyboard and monitor, you then can without remote accessing do it direct at the push of a button.

Yeas, many old computers have this issue that if your keyboard becomes unplugged, it will crash, if unplugged, it wont boot either.... Some will allow BIOS settings to disable monitor, keyboard and mouse to allow the unit to function as aremote access machine but byfar the easiest is a KVM switch, if you get one, a version that will allow upto 3/4 machines on one keyboard and one that draws its power from the machine itself, saves having to buy an external power supply, I have a sitecom one, not pretty but does its job.

And just to make sure you fully understand about web servers, this site might help you http://computer.howstuffworks.com/web-server.htm

Doesnt matter if its a Mac or PC based technology, all you need is the internet and the software to serve up a web site and anyone can see it.
