What Addy would you use to acess your server from another location (Like a pc at work or something) Would it be something like this? : http://000.0.0.1:1024/ Using your IP and the port at the end?? (this one is 1024) _________________ Thank You

you simply use the IP address that is issued to your modem with the console port address on the end.
eg, if you connect to http://127.0.0.1:9999/ on your PC and your IP address was for example 231.132.213.123 you would use http://231.132.213.123:9999/ from your work machine and login.
It is that simple, no messing around with remote anywhere, do it directly. |

Just remember to route whatever console port your using if your machine is on a LAN and networked through a router...
Please note, you can usually access your router in the same manner if your setup is allowd by remote access, you will have to consult your router instructions inorder to do this. |

So you would rather run another app that requires an open port to view any way, so whats the difference?
If your accessing over a LAN you wont need to open any port to access the server console.
My point being you dont have to run another server on your system, running more servers on your system in the long run poses more of a security risk than using the already existing console port which can be accessed remotely through an opened port, you then close the remote whats port so you still have the minimum of ports open still. |
