| Well i am very new to this thing and i need help putting my web site up and running. I typed in http://127.0.0.1/index.html on my server and it was working fine meaning the web site im developing showed up but i don't know what to do on another computer. Can someone please show me how to view my site on someone else pc rather than the server it runs on. PLEASE HELP. |

You need to use your IP Address to enter your website to see if its accessible than you can sign up
for a free no-ip account so you don't have to use your IP for your website address, to find your IP.

On port 80 , you don't have to append the port at the end of your URL
so you should be just fine with a no-ip A record pointing , its perfect ! |

If your running a firewall you need to set it to allow Abyss Internet access, check your manual on how to do it.
If your running the built in XP firewall you need to allow access to port 80, link in sig.
if you have a router you need to set up virtual server, again check your manual on how to do this.

but, as you can't connect I would try changing your abyss port, and try connecting on that port no, as some ISP's block access to port 80.
eg: 65.5.245.55:81

If you can get access to your server then follow the following, otherwise don't (attempting too many things at onces leads to faller!!).
I can only provid advice on firewalls if you run a Windows bassed computer.
If run Windows XP you can setup your build in firewall, by reading the info in my tutorial: http://www.olly86.co.uk/abyss/xpfirewall.html

| Ok from what i read you have the server setup on its own computer and you want to access it from another? does this mean you have a home network? if so how does the computer with the server on connect to the internet? If its using a router make sure that port 80 gets forward to the servers computer! ip normaly something like 192.168.0.2, if you are using windows xp internet sharing do the same thing. |

| O.K I am on my PC1 and has a connection to the internet through a DSL Modem and PC2 has a connection to the internet through a backup line or a phone line. PC1 is the server and PC2 is the regular one with no server. And i want to make sure people can visit my site from there PC. I have no home network.
