Ok i talked to someone from adelphia's(my isp) tech support. They said running web servers violates their terms of service, and they do block port 80. I was wondering if it was still possible to operate a site off of another port, even though it violates their contract. How would i be able to find a port that they do not block? They said this was enforced because of bandwidth problems. |

yes, you can still run the server just pick random ports until you get one that works. |

There's no point using an online scanner to try and find ports to use - if it shows any as open, they're already in use. If it shows them as closed, it doesn't tell you anything. Just pick a non standard port in the range 1024-65335. Avoid 3128, 8080 and any used for common P2P apps. |

when you add a acceptable port to a firewall...do you allow both incoming and outgoing connections? |

81 and 82 are starting to crop up more and more as ad servers - won't be long before ISPs decide to kill them too... |

Neither has mine...
weruletheschool - Unless you explicitly state otherwise, it will usually allow both incoming and outgoing. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
