Does anyone know if adelphia ip caches? Also what exactly is that? I used a port sniffer to see if i had any open ports, and it said my isp might do that. It also shows a diffrent ip , than what my abyss webserver shows. Right now no one has been able to view my site, it works fine for me. I think it has something to do with my ip or ports.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.... |

Are you referring to a proxy server; meaning your internet would be routed through another place; making places like WhatIsMyIP.com show a different IP? _________________ Bienvenidos! |

In the console of Abyss, it says 127.0.0.1; which is the same throughout all computers. "localhost," what it's called, just means "this computer here." The IP from WhatIsMyIP.com is the IP Address that is unique to you, and is what you should give people to view your website. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

That was extremely helpful. Everything seems ok now. Could you recomend a good firewall? |

Thank you for the compliment.
When it comes to hardware, any router will do that utilizes NAT (most all do). When it comes to software, I like Norton Internet Security. When any attack comes in (IIS Exploit, Port Scan, Nimda, et cetera), it automatically bans the IP for a half an hour. It is also very easy to set up. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

If you have a firewall, then yes, you can block all the ports. If you get a router, all ports will be blocked by default.
Once you get a router, visit my tutorial at http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3806 on how to forward a port for Abyss. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Ok. Make sure you allow Abyss to listen and receive all connections coming from port 80 (or whatever port you use).
How to do it:
Personal Firewall>Configure>Program Control>Add>Make a setting for "abyssws.exe">Under "What do you want to do," hit "Permit">Choose any category you want. That's it. Make sure it says "Permit All" under "Internet Access." _________________ Bienvenidos! |
