Hi

There seems to be some problems with abyss server on my computer.

Every now and then my webpage is working fine, but some times all of a sudden I cannot access my webpage. Even with http://127.0.0.1 it still wouldn't load. I must reboot the server in order to get it working again.

Im using Windows XP Professional edition with SP1 installed.

Yes, windows XP firewall is on.

But I have enabled the port for "Web Server (HTTP)" on the firewall

What port does abyss use?

If you haven't changed anything, then Abyss uses port 80; the standard HTTP port. Do you use any other kind of firewall router? For instance, do you have multiple computers sharing one internet connection through a router?

rong1987,

All the users who reported a similar problem are using Abyss with another application that uses extensively the network. The issue seems to be related to the operating system which forces a limit on the available network connections to a given program (and to all the running programs).
Try setting your XP to be optimised as a Server computer (and not as a Desktop computer).

I'm using 98 here but it should be similar. Go to Control Panel, open System, click the Preformace tab, hit File System on the bottom, then click the Hard Disk tab. On there there is an option called 'Typical role of this computer'. Change it to Network Server.

rong1987,

As suggested before, go to the control panel > system > Perfromance Option and optomize the performance for "Background services" (or Network serving, all depends on the version of Windows you use).
