Im getting tons of hits from something with a user agent of "Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600". I have looked everywhere for info but all I can find are similar unanswered questions. Does anybody know what it is? |

It seems to be a IIS exploit. Nothing to worry about. |

Tons of people do. After running it through Google I found out there are people who get over 10,000 hits from it a day. I bothered to contact Microsoft on this one and all they gave me was this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wss/wss/wss_references_webdav.asp Not useful at all. Just defines the error codes it can have but I know its part of the exchange server. If anybody else gets these post the IP's because I think it may all be from the same source. |

jmoschetti45,
This seems to be the user agent corresponding to the "Web Folders" feature in the modern Windows systems. _________________ Support Team

Yes it is. I just noticed that too. It's also recognized by AWStats as "Netcraft Web Server Survey". I'm still lost though when it comes to why there are an average of 60-70 a day when I don't even have that many visitors (normally 20-30) and none of the IPs from that user agent correspond to any of the IPs from the visitors. |

They're just little robots looking for an open IIS hole. Too bad, because that is useful bandwidth being mooched. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Yeah it's a major waste of bandwidth. 22.04 MB a day on average. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

You think that is a waste of bandwidth? 60% of the bandwidth on the internet is spam emails being sent. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

... and the other 40% is people who add random one line comments to the end of forums posts which add no knowledge or further information to the topic discussed, just to see their post count go up  |

Hey now, that wasn't random. I was just giving him a little statistic. And besides, I have better things to do than post miscellaneous information just to see special numbers; unless there is some sort of prize if I reach 1000? :D
And remember, your post was one sentence also! :D _________________ Bienvenidos! |
