hi i have the abyss server and a phpbb forum running on my pc i can see the forum how do i allow others to what would the address be ive tried http://my ip but it doesnt work how do i tell what it would be?

u got it right ..http://yourIP should work....if you are using a router or firewall make sure they use the ISP ip and not the local ip and you have port 80 forwarded to your local IP...

hope this helps...if you do have a router check their homepage on how to forward ports

great thanks for your reply but im new to all this and unfortunately i dont understand what your trying to tell me to do. whats a router? and i have winxp i have disabled the firewall and disabled my zonealarm as well i type in the http:// my ip but it still doesnt work. is there something else i have to put after that like phpbb2/index.php or something maybe im not putting it in right

Well even if you don't have indexing, your directory list of files will show. And if you do have a router (usually used so you can have the internet on two or more computers or to set up a network) you might need to foward the ports. If not, going to your ip should work. I have a Linksys router and it only worked inside network lan/on localhost untill I did so.
And if you disabled your firewall there should be no problem at all. So hmm...

whats the first 2 digits of the ip your trying?
does http://127.0.0.1 work?

the abyss control panel sets what file to display to someone connecting to your server

if you go to
Control Panel > Server Configuration > Advanced > Server Parameters

It only works inside network/LAN for me, Think you could help? And yes ive a router. :?
