XP has an integrated firewall you should disable. Please read the answer to the second question in our FAQ at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html . _________________ Support Team

DO you mean that the integrated firewall is disabled and that you still cannot reach your server from the outside? _________________ Support Team

Do you have the correct IP of the computer? Are sure there is no firewall/antihacking software running in the background?
Your issue is not related to Abyss Web Server, it has to do with something else on your computer or your network that is preventing people outside to reach your machine. _________________ Support Team

What IP are you giving them? In such a case, you should give them the router/modem external IP (or WAN IP) and you'll have to configure the latter to forward incoming connections on port 80 to your web server on your computer. _________________ Support Team

do you have a switch or a router between your connection and your modem? what kind of a modem do you have (dialup, cable, dns, etc.)?
If you have a switch, you must configure it to forward http requests via the appropriate port (80 or 8080) from your external IP to your internal IP (in the lan) which has your server.
The above assumes you use a switch and a cable modem. |

I'm not to good in the port/ip area of computers
noone can view my site, and it's getting annoying.
how can you find if your port 80 is open or not? and how would you find out about any firewalls? because i didn't install any, and i disabled the windows XP one (i have windows XP home)
also, does it matter if i'm on a Netgear using cable? |

You can view your "webpage" from your LAN, do you mean from another LAN PC or itself? If from another LAN PC, then I would assumed your router need to be configure / setting. You will need to find out how to set your router to forward the PORT 80 [or whatever Abyss is listening to] and LAN IP of your Abyss.
From what I understand from all these previous post, it the router need to be set / configure. The outside LAN can not get into your LAN where your Abyss is sitting and the router is not passing the request.
You may need to contact your router support tech on how to set / configure your router. _________________ CapFusion,... |
