I've read the articles about this error but i still havent solved my problem.
I spend several hours solving this thing.
I'm running windows 98 SE as a sever.
On this server i have a mercuy mailserver running (http disabled) and it is working ok
On this server i have Abyss web server X1 (v 2.3.2) running using the dutch languagepack
My webserver is listening to port 80
I've placed my website on "C:\Website" and changed this in the hostsettings
I've copied index.html to index.htm
when i try to access my webpages entering
10.0.0.151 (adress of server in my LAN)
or www.mydomain.eu (using a proxy)
i get error 403 - forbidden
can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? |

Try enabling the directory listing and see what you get. A 403 only shows up when there's no index file, and the directory listing is disabled. By enabling the list you can see what files are in that directory, and you can verify that it's looking in the right place. |

Thanks for your reply.
My "Directorylisting" is set to "Standard Listing". I did not change "scope" and "hidden files".
I still can't access my website with entering the local IP number in my browser.
Is there anything else to look at? |

Remove your IP access rules because they are controlling access to /index.html and /index.htm while there is no allowed IP configured in them (so they will grant access to no visitor and error 403 is reported instead). _________________ Support Team

In the hostsettings in "IP Adress control" i removed "index.htm" and "index.html".
Now everything works fine.
Thank you for helping me solving this problem. |
