Hello all :)
I'm running Linux Fedora core5 and I keep getting the "Listening Error" only on port 80 which is the port I need to use. When I ran netstat to see what was running, nothing appeared using that port (tcp or udp). I then checked my processes (ps -e) and found nothing running there (although I must admit I'm not too sure what some of the processes are).
Here's the long list ...

Im pretty sure Apache runs by default on a lot of Linux dristributions. You should check it is not running and stop it if it is. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

yea most linux distributions come with LAMP
Linux
Apache
MySQL
Php
So check for this before trying to run abyss
(also make sure you havew access to ports 1-1024) _________________ Where have i been? School got heck-tick, had to move half way around the state, then back... and then i had to change jobs, so iv been away for a while :P |

This has been covered a thousand times before....
On linux only root can access ports below 1024.
The basic steps are below
- You will have to install abyss as root
- Run abyss for the first time as a normal user
- Go to the console, and change the port number and the system user
- Now stop abyss
- Change the file permissions
- Now start abyss as root
Two posts that i recommend you read are

which will give more information than what I have provided here _________________ Anthony R
