Hello. Quick question. I downloaded the PHP pre-configured app. from aprelium.com and set it up with my Abyss Web Server. When i did it at work it was fine. I could add a new document in htdocs called whatever.php But now if i do it on my laptop it's a whatever.php.txt file??? does anyone know how to make it just a .php file?

also, when i go to 127.0.0.1/index.html it says ERROR: NOT FOUND whats up with that? thanks guys.

Hello,

I am not 100% positive although I think you need to ad parentheses to the file name like "whatever.php" to keep it from going to text.

Hope this helps! I am in the middle of trying to get the MySQL thing going and I cant seam to get a red light turned on. I am going to try a reinstall I think.

Stultz,

Let me guess.

<guess>
You are using Windows Notepad? By default it will append .TXT to your filename.

When you save your php file you need to change the "save as file type" to be "all files".
</guess>

Good luck.

Not sure what it's called in the english version of Windows, but you need to make sure Explorer display files with its extension.

You could also save the file as "whatever.php" (including the quotes).

In Notepad, when you're saving a file, look at the dialog box.

File --> Save As
You'll see file name box. Right below it is Save as type. It is set to Text Documents (*.txt). Instead, set it to All Files and name it whatever.php.

I would set Explorer to show you the full extensions. To do this, go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View tab. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types. Then when you look at whatever.php, it'll probably show whatever.php.txt. Then just rename it (F2).

The easiest way is to put the filename in quotes when you save, so instead of whatever.php, you put "whatever.php". :-)
