Hi I'm hoping some one can help me with this problem.
I have tried going into the access control console and added the virtual path
for eg. http://mysite.com/anydirectory
what do i put as realm?
can some one please explain the order button? and the allow for deny for bits. I noticed there was no way of putting a password in there so I went into users and groups and did this:
I added myself as a user selected a password and clicked ok.
then I went back to the access control panel filled in the virtual path and tried differing combinations for order and checked the box in allow for.
None of the combinations seemed to work for me.
Am I doing something wrong?
Hopefully this made a bit of sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

OK, here is how we make a new protected directory:
1. In users and groups, make a user and a password.
2. In access control click "add".
3. For virtual path put in the path to the protected directory in relation to your htdocs folder, eg the folder "protected" in your htdocs folder would be the virtual path "/protected".
4. For realm, just put in some text, eg "This directory is protected".
5. Leave order as it is (Allow/Deny). This means it checks for users you have ticked and allows them before denying everyone else. The otherway round it lets everyone without a tick box checked in.
6. Click the users you want to be able to access the directory on the "allow for" list.
Click OK and restart Abyss. Now go to www.yoursite.com/protected and it should ask you for a username and password, and it will display the realm text you entered.
Hope this works for you. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
