I posted the following topic into the wrong forum (BUGS)
http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=867
I tried so many different ways to get the outside world to see my machine but its hopeless...
I completely disabled my firewalls and checked my port status here http://192.41.65.171/portscanlogic3.fadp?
Wierd thing is if things are not open or closed port 80 is always stealthed. Maybe my ISP (roadrunner) stealthed it but keep reading.
My machines webpages are viewable on my LAN but not over the Internet using port 80 so I tried changing it to 8000 and 8080 but none of them work. Changing my port to anything other than 80 kills the connection on my LAN.
A simple web redirect http://www.xp2003.vbgunz.com which points to my machine can only be seen on the lan but not over the net.
None of the following work
http://www.xp2003.vbgunz.com
http://www.xp2003.vbgunz.com:8080
http://www.xp2003.vbgunz.com:8000
Yes I restarted the server after every port change and even exited and restarted the server without any firewalls enabled.
I am not behind a proxy and please look at this to get a better view of my problems at hand. I couldnt explain them any better than Idid at this post.

Someone please give me an idea of what to do :) I am really exhausting my resources. Thank you |

It seems that your provider is blocking port 80.
Do you use a router in your network? |

I tried working around port 80 using 8080 and 8000 but the server would stop serving even across my LAN. I even tried adding the port numbers after the url but changing the port simply doesn't work for me.
I also tried random ports between 1024 and higher but nothing...
Any ideas? |

Sorry for the 'stupid' question. But do you disable the XP firewall on port 8000 for example when you switch the server to that port?
To test your server, always use http://127.0.0.1:port . If that works, that means that the server works and that other problems comes from the network you are using (including its firewalls, routers, etc.)
So try switching the port to 8000, disable you XP firewall on that port also. Check that http://127.0.0.1:8000 works on your machine, then try accessing your machine from your LAN.
We're waiting for your feedback. _________________ Support Team

OK breaking news. Major thanks Aprelium. It seems port 8000 does work and the outside world can see me.
The problem was how I chose to point an alias to my machine using the services provided by http://www.no-ip.com
I chose DNS Hostname (A) which pointed to my machines IP address. I changed it to web redirect and added my port :8000 after the IP.
It works :)
Is this wise?
Now I am just curous :) Thanks Aprelium, you saved my day with the idea ;) |
