|
|
I have Abyss set up
Admin Port 9999
Web Port 8000
I have added MIME type:
application/x-bittorrent
.torrent
I have created a Torrent, using Torrent2, of the ISO I want to distribute
I can access both web portals
However after downloading the Torrent the client fails to track with the following error:
*Problem connecting to tracker - HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized*
At this time all testing is being done on the local machine.
But the same client errors on remote machines (same LAN)
I am not worried about port mapping at this point because I am testing locally.
Should I be concerned with port mapping while testing locally?
What I am missing? |

I have tried running the tracker server on port 80
When I do this I get a *Timeout* error
Ports 6881-6999 are forwarded on the router to my PC
Using Torrent Maker2 I have been able to try several setting changes.
Setting a private tracking URL and Announce URL doesn’t seem to help.
I can download and track torrents on the workstation PC that is serving the X1 Abyss web service.
I run a Swiki Comanche Web Service on the same machine without issues.
(Its disabled while I am working on the Abyss X1 Torrent Server Project which will be used to distribute gigabytes of image files across hundreds of machines)
Would posting the log file help?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Can you access the server through the internet? If not then this is probably why. If you have the server configured to allow only localhost connections this also wont help.
"*Problem connecting to tracker - HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized*"
This will be caused by the IP being blocked, anti-hacking rules etc. Try starting with a fresh config file (backup the old one) and try again. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

No I cannot access the website via the internet.
I only intend on using it locally. (Intranet)
Does it really need to forward to a public IP?
I tried using the default config with the same results.
Console and Web ports are viewable.
BT client automatically starts the D/L but the my tracker is never found.
When using Port 8000 the error is:
"*Problem connecting to tracker - HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized*"
When using port 80 the error is:
"*Problem connecting to tracker - timeout exceeded*"
I can download from other Torrent sites without issue.
Tracking to remote servers seems fine and speedy.
Creating Torrents using Make Torrent2:
WebServers Name is: *http://computer01:80* its is being used
for Annoucement URL (Status is: UP)
for Tracker URL
for Private Tracker URL
Using Static IP.
WinXP SP2 w/ Winders Firewall disabled.
I need to distribute files that are 8-10 gigabytes in size across about 100 computers. (Ghost is heavily used here but not an option in this case)
This is a process that repeates very often so I thought a torrent service would be very helpful.
Thank you for your time, |

Ok I have simulated this setup using 3 PC's with a Windows2003 Server acting as the router.
I am having the same results.
Perhaps I am setting up X1 wrong.
Am I supposed to place the torrent file in another directory than "htdocs?"
After I create the torrent is the original file supposed to be place somewhere else?
When looking at other torrent files why do most other torrent files refer back to an "announce" folder that doesn’t exists in X1? |

Can you explain how you're setting up the tracker on Abyss Web Server so
that we may try it on our own servers? What is the tracker script? |

Since I have none I am guessing this is/was the problem.
I am still using X1 as the web server I need to easily distribute the torrents and the client as needed.
Abyss is a really useful and capable Web Server.
Testing delivery of the binaries on the LAN starts Today so I am a bit excited. |
