I've got JOOMLA (complicated content mangagement system) and it won't work with php 5, which I have installed on Abyss X1 already. I need php 4 installed on the server and have it in a root folder of C drive, not the program files, where Abyss is installed. I'm new to the server configs but have done ok to get XP Home working as a server. I found a stand-alone server offered for Joomla with a precofigured server, complete with the right version of php bundled with mysql for this Joomla version. I'm new to all of these programs but have the desire to learn...I was unprepared for having to learn so many different programs though. I'm running out of disk space. I balk at installing the new server bundle download with programs that I have already, just for the sake of running Joomla. I would like to be able to run Joomla on Abyss. Has anyone done that? On this forum, I discovered you can run php 5xx and php 4xx on the same server...though I'm not sure it's the right thing to do... I have no idea how dual php configs work and don't want to mess up my asp configurations that I so carefully made with a precofigured php 5 that I found on this site....Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have no problems running joomla with php5 on my server.
Have you tried the preconfigured php5 package that Aprelium put together?
If not, you can get it here... http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php5win.html

That's very interesting and worth a try. You have the X1 server? I've read all over the Mambo and Joomla forums that php 5 is incompatible with Joomla. That is the only version on my server for now. That's why I didn't try the installation.

I'm using Abyss X2, but there shouldn't be any difference.
It is also in the default location. (Program Files/etc.)

I have tested it extensively and have found no errors anywhere.
I'm able to install components and themes with no problems.

That is good news- and fast too. I will give that a try tomorrow morning, with coffee. Thank you for your tip.

On my first cup of coffee, I realized I don't know enough to do an installation on Abyss. I looked at the Joomla forum again under a search for Abyss and found a CGI issue with spacing found. Another program to learn! I feel overwhelmed with installation of Joomla and was wondering if anyone knows a tutorial on how to install this convoluted program?
I tried the installation localhost index.php or the installation/index.php but got blank pages.
What comes next:
I found out that spaces casing malfuntions are in the cgi script and that Aprellium has been notified about this problem, according to this post on the Joomla Forum:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,25274.0.html

I found nothing on this forum about the problem.

I don't know what the problem could be. It took me less than 5 minutes to install.
I originally installed joomla 1.0.5, then recently upgraded to 1.0.8 without any problems.
Did you go over the installation manual? http://help.joomla.org/content/category/15/99/132/

This is my setup:
WinXP Pro
Abyss 2.0.6 X2
Aprelium's preconfigured PHP 5.0.3
MySQL 4.1.12a-nt

Abyss, PHP and MySQL were installed with default settings.
