I thought I saw a post about this before, but the search is down at the moment (atleast for me).
I the PHP scripts I use to record hits and traffic logs show all visitors as coming from "192.168.1.1". Obviously that is my router forwarding the http request from the clients computer to my server.
My router is a Linksys WRT54G, is there any way to have it pass the real IP address along to my server for recording? |

Routers usually do not do that (IPs are preserved after going through the router). But we recommend checking with Linksys. _________________ Support Team

I have the same router and I don't have this problem.
What PHP script are you using? What log are you looking at? |

Really!?
I was using BBClone http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/22285.html
It showed everything as coming from 192.168.1.1. Is there another counter you would recommend I try to rule out my router as the culprit? |

I just installed a new counter script. If you could, please go to this page:
http://rtadams89.dyndns.org:9555/test.html
Then I'll look in the scripts logs and see if it showed your ip address.
Thanks. |

I just visited, IP should be 6x.xx.xx.xx or 82.xx.xx.xx depends how your script reads it. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

This script is not showing IPs but rather domains. So far I have hits from
ResNetUser-YBorth-147. 143. 240. 39. bangor. ac. uk
cpc2-midd2-3-1-cust38. midd. cable. ntl. com
ame-broadband4-eth-36. dsl. airstreamcomm. net
Are any of those yours? |

Ok. Well this one is working. I guess that script I started with just didn't like me.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good visitor log script? |

That's my DNS address. Really good to workout where I am :D.
I'm connected through the University's Residential Network (ResNetUser). I'm in the Hall Y Borth (YBorth), and it's got my current internal IP address. As well as the university's domain name. _________________ Olly |
