|
|
hi if this has already been up im sorry and feel free to tell me im in the wrong.
iv had abyss up for a while now, and its been working great.
but the other day i tried to get onto my site from a computer (not on my home network) and it came up with a time out error.
im running abyss x1 on an xphome, internet is etherneted brouadband ntl. port 80 is open...
the weird thing is it just stopped working its not like it never worked in the first place.
i have checked the ip and its still the same - no-ip account
the only thing that i can think of that might be causing the problem is that i have set abyss to auto start in the system in stead of an individual user
any suggestions would be great, thanks _________________ :::::::::: |

If you use a router check that the LAN IP has not changed on the server pc and check the routers port forwarding configuration.
Can you get to it from the Internet IP? If so then you have a loopback issue. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Make sure you can access the server from http://127.0.0.1 , localhost. If you cant then abyss is not running. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

hmmmm..... i tried localhost and it refused connection, however it still lets me use the ip or the no-ip redirect ?
When i open abyss or get the admin setting up it says that it is running ?

Is your broweser configured to use a proxy? If this is the case, set it to not use the proxy for localhost and 127.0.0.1.
Otherwise try installing another borwser such as Opera or FireFox and try accessing with it http://127.0.0.1 . If it works this means that this is configuration issue with your first browser (and 90% of the time, it is related to proxies configuration). _________________ Support Team

im using firefox on both computers with no proxy, i can get the local host / 127.0.0.1 on the server (computer running abyss) but not on the networked computers.
http://sjk24.no-ip.org
i tried restarting the server and running abyss as a user rather than a service but it didnt seem to do anything.
the firewall (windows xp one) is set to allow abyss and port 80
other than that there is nothing that i can see stopping abyss from working.
its just the fact that i can see it from the 3 home computers (false scence of hope) but then no one else can ;( meaning that i cant really test to see if it is "really" working. _________________ :::::::::: |

Its possible your ISP decided to block port 80. Have you tried using
another port ? I think this maybe the cause of the problem , try port
9000 and see if you can connect to your server. Hope this helped.

Reinstalling Abyss Web Serve won't change anything since the problem is related to your network and not to the software running on your computer. The rule is that if you can access Abyss Web Server locally, the software is OK and the problem is to be located either in a firewall, your router, or your ISP. _________________ Support Team
