hi there.
I am building a website for my fathers shop. He owns a sandwich shop that needs dragging into this century, we are trying to come up with a way that he can have orders sent to him from a website (abyss hosted) that he can access in his shop, he has no access to a pc there. so i was thinking an order form online that goes to a pager or mobile. He has a large customer business base for buffets, so can anyone point me to something that may help me.
i am sorry if i posted this in the wrong place, i am not sure what i am looking for.
ty in advance

You could hook a modem up to a computer and make it dial, but you couldnt really get it to say anything.
There are companys that will let you send SMSes to cells through an API, but you'll also have to pay for the service.
It would be easiest to get a cheap computer and hook it up to an unlimited dialup connection, and set it to auto check emails. _________________

ty for your reply.
is there no way of doing it with some sort of script, the reason i ask this is because,
i use phpbb forums, i am sure i have seen somewhere that you can put a script of some sort on it to send a message to a phone when some one posts or joins i am not sure on the details, i have looked for it but i cant find it, i will keep searching tho. anyays if i can find it maybe there is a way i can manipulate the data to send form information instead.
i may be barking up the wrong tree with this but its worth i shot.
We dont mind using a host if that maybe the way we have to go,
i host my own forum on abyss and i love it (that wont change).
ty again

I think I know what you mean, on invision power board for example, with the right things enabled you can get a fax sent to you. I've honestly never gone further on this than seeing it in the administration panel, and dont know how it works. However, I'd assume you need to hook your computer up to a modem or use a special provider too.
I think you'd be best off with something like this if you have a 'lil money to spend. (No, I dont nececerilly know if thats what you're after, but its one of the first results I got.) _________________

i think that the easiest thing to do would be to hook the computer running the website site up to a modem that can fax and then set up a fax machine in the shop.
I found this post by searching these forums
http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6254&highlight=dial+modem+php
apreliums first post, third from last, is the most interseting one as it shows how to dial a number using php and a few AT modem commands _________________ Anthony R
