Has anyone but me noticed that there is a very large number of spammers joining the forum? Many of them, strangely, have not posted a thing, but you'll get the idea from their profiles. It contains links to Prozac, CENSORED,...,...
All the things you get spam e-mail regurarding.
I thought this might come with some interesting discuissions as to why. Please, keep this peaceful. This ought to be interesting :D

Probably because this forum has a very large number of members so they join and post in the hope someone will buy their products...

Lol, if I get one I email it back until their inbox is full. It taught one spammer a lesson.

Nope. I dont get many spam e-mail now, maybe 1 or 2 a day on my main account, none on the webmaster account (which is weird as its on the website).

My guess on the no post thing would be that thay're automated and are built to parse the default phpbb skin, however this skin is modified so it could cause them to not get the correct into and cause them to not post. (Due to thinking the signup went wrong or something.)

Aprelium should put the image varification on so it cant be used by automation systems.

We've checked the log and it seems that they are joining the forum and posting manually. So an image verification box won't stop them.

Jokes on you really though - mailing back means verifying your address is 'live' and making it twice as valuable to sell onto other spammers for future mailing ;)

ah but im smart and made a crappy free account with wanadoo to do it with. they only have a 5mb inbox so it will become pretty full if they do it back to that account ;-)
