Ok here is my problem. I have version westell 2200. I can access my site at http://127.0.0.1:81. Others can access my ip at http://xx.xx.xxx:81 (xx = my external ip address).
The problem is i can't access my site using my external ip address. I can only access it using my internal one! Do you know why that happens? |

Search the forum for 'loopback' for more details. Basically, a lot of routers/modems cannot handle sending traffic out over the external interface which will go directly back to itself - ie addressing it with the WAN IP.
If you have set up a domain name or free dynamic DNS type subdomain, you can edit your Windows hosts file to allow you to access the site using the name rather than IP, but without Windows trying to use the external IP.
