Firstly, to make it easier you should have a domain. Something like, www.your_name.com.

When you have purchased the domain you will get a console so you can edit webpointing, zone settings etc. You need to use the Zone settings to manage your sub-domains. If you use a Dynamic IP, you can enter your no-ip address (if you have one) or if you have a static IP, you can enter that,

I have found it difficult to use if you don't know what you are doing.

1. Go into your zone settings panel. In the table (if its in a table, mine is) look for 'WWW'.
2. Click on edit and change the Data box to your IP address or no-ip.com domain name.
3. Change TYPE to CNAME.
4. Click save.

5. For a sub-domain, create a new entry.
6. Enter:

NAME: The name you want the sub-domain as
TYPE: CNAME
DATA: Your IP Address or no-ip.com domain name
TTL: 600
AUX: (leave blank)

7. Now, in the X2 console, add the sub-domain name to a new field and go to the sub-domain in your browser. Hey presto, it works! (at least it should!)

Troubleshooting:
If i does not work, change CNAME to A, or ANAME. I'm not sure what the difference between these is yet but try them both if the other doesnt work.

Hope this answers your question.

melonstudio,

Yes, of course. First, you should declare the subdomain at your registrar as explained by The Inquisitor.

For example, if you have the domain melonstudio.com, you can declare a new subdomain forum.melonstudio.com and associate it with your computer IP.

Next, add a new host in Abyss Web Server console which "Host Name" is forum.melonstudio.com . Now anyone can browse http://forum.melonstudio.com .

We recommend reading also related message in http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39365#39365 and http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39639#39639 .

Sorry I don't get what you guys are trying to say. When I used Apache then I could just add a V-Host and that was it. But I didn't get what you were trying to say. Please try to explain a little more.

Sincerely,

melonstudio,

What is called a Virtual host in Apache is simple called a Host in Abyss Web Server.
Let's say you have a subdomain which full name is forum.melonstudio.com . All you have to do is to open Abyss Web Server console, press Add in the Hosts table, fill the form there and do not forget to enter forum.melonstudio.com in the Host Name field.

Press OK and now you have a host who will answer queries for subdomain forum.melonstudio.com .

Of course, forum.melonstudio.com must be declared in your registar control panel (the panel you use to control melonstudio.com and its options/parameters).

If you need a more detailed example or have other questions please feel free to ask here in the forum or send it directly to Priority Support http://www.aprelium.com/support/priority .
