|
|
Hello, i am completely new to using php, mysql, and all this stuff. I know how to use a basic web server, like abyss and very much so like it. I have configured php to work on abyss server and did that following the tutorial on this site. Also, i have installed MySQL and got that running. I tried to install and use phpMyAdmin but that failed.
Really all i want to know is....I want to install phpbb (forums) www.phpbb.com and run it off of abyss. (its running off this site too) Is there anyway i could get a short, but clarified way of doing this? I have a basic understanding of using Abyss, MySQL, and php. i have a editor to edit any php files.
I know i'm a newb, but would really like to learn how to do this stuff, its pretty cool.
Thank you. |

ok, i followed the guid for php install and mysql, but
when i try to go to http://127.0.0.1/phpadmin i get the error:
cannot load mysql extension;
please check PHP configuration
Documentation
Documention:
1.20] I receive the error "cannot load MySQL extension, please check PHP Configuration".
To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions called "MySQL extension". This extension may be part of the PHP distribution (compiled-in), otherwise it needs to be loaded dynamically. Its name is probably mysql.so or php_mysql.dll. phpMyAdmin tried to load the extension but failed.
how can i resolve this so i can get this working?
thanks |

Search the forum for that , your using a different MySQL version than the one
I reference users to , the version of MySQL you have requires php_mysql.dll.
You can enable this PHP module from your php.ini file. LateR! |

I recommend PHP4 with MySQL 4.0.24. This is what I use and it seems to work perfectly. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

That is correct , When you download certain PHP versions. You need the right
MySQL version to support that PHP version , here's a quick example. LateR!
PHP v4 -> MySQL v4.0.x
PHP v5 -> MySQL v4.1.x
As you can see clearly in this example , the best version of MySQL to use in
PHP v4 which I recommend is MySQL v4.0.x. The reason why I want users to
stick with PHP v4 is because it supports almost all scripts. Have A Nice Day!
