Hay, i am very new to this program. I really don't know where to start. I am lost in every way.
Ok!
I installed the server to port 80, the default. And i tried to use different ones but for some reason i can go to to my site form the computer or server in which is on. The http://127.0.0.1/ URL works on the server computer, but my ip address don't. I have a static ip address, and i am running a Westell WireSpeed Modem, and my ISP is Bellsouth. If anyone can help me get this thing to work will be thanked. Thanks.ASAP Please! |

Do you have a router?
And do you know if your ISP blocks port 80? _________________

Does your ip address work from any other computer? With no router, you're connecting directly ... hmmmm ... have you opened port 80 in your firewall? (If you're connected through a big ISP like Bellsouth, you'd better be running a firewall!) _________________ Red Lion

I presume your Windows XP firewall is turned on? Go to start > control panel > security center > firewall and bring up the firewall control panel. Click on the "exceptions" tab. Click on the "add port" button, and add Abyss X1 in the name slot, and 80 in the port slot. Clicky-clicky, You're through.
Further tweaks, I will leave up to those who know more than me, like TRUSTpunk. He's really helpful! _________________ Red Lion

Your external IP address is usually unaccessible from your computer as most routers doesn't support loopback.
Ask someone on the Internet to do the test for you or use a web proxy site such as http://www.proxify.com . _________________ Support Team

From what I have seen with the Westell Wirespeed modems is that they act as a router. You will have to log in to the modem config page (probably 192.168.1.1) and set up port forwarding.
Check the IP address of the computer to see if it is private (192.168.*.*).
Do you have a separate router also? Things can get really confusing then!!
Good Luck! |
