I've read the documentation, FAQs, and many of the forum responses. I think I've tried it all, without success. Help!

My cable modem is working fine for internet browsing. I would like to setup a web server to serve pages to the internet.

Overview:
-- Cable modem: Comcast Scientific Atlanta DPC2100
-- Router: D-Link DI-614+ (directly connected to PC by ethernet wire)
-- WAN IP: 1.2.3.4 (the actual number is changed to protect the innocent -- me!)
-- LAN IP: 192.168.0.101
-- Server Hardware: Win XP with latest service pack and all Windows Update downloads for security
-- Server Software: I am using Abyss Web Server v1.1.
-- TEMPORARILY placed Server in the DMZ, to avoid any possible router configuration issues
-- Turned off XP firewall, sygate firewall, and configured router to allow in all traffic on all ports from all IPs. (scarry, I know)
-- Called my ISP (comcast) to ask about port blocking. They said all ports below 5000 are open.

Successes:
-- I can reach my router configuration page from work. (I just can't get past the router to the web server...)
-- I can see my local webpage by viewing http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/.
-- I can see my local web server console manager page by viewing http://127.0.0.1:9999/

Problems:
-- I cannot see my webpage by viewing http://1.2.3.4/ from work.

Troubleshooting:
-- Changing the webserver port from 80 to other ports below 5000 also does not work (such as port 888).
-- Taking the computer OUT of the DMZ and setting up a routing rule to direct port 80 to port 80 (public/private) does not work.
-- Changing the routing rule and public port to 888 also does not work.
-- Changing the private port to a different number (say, 777) and changing the routing rules (888 to 777) also does not work.
-- I used this website to confirm that port 80 is inaccessible (contrary to what comcast say): http://www.netmonitor.org/tools/test.php?type=www
-- Note that in all cases above, I assured that my private LAN IP was configured in the router, so the router knows which computer is the web server.

Please advise on next steps.
